To configure Morning Magick, first enable either Daily Insights, Weekly Insights, or both.
Next select who you want to receive the emails. You can select from the primary account email or any Team Members.
And that’s all there is to enabling Morning Magick if you’re using UTMs in the recommended, industry-standard way. You’ll soon start receiving your daily insights around 5am, and your weekly insights on Mondays around 11am, both local time.
We need to generate new, unique data once you enable Morning Magick. You’ll begin receiving your daily insights 2 days after enabling them, and your weekly insights 5 days after enabling those (if not already receiving daily insights).
Keep reading to learn how to re-map your UTMs if necessary, and how to customize your insights …
Optimization Goal
This is the conversion goal that matters most to you. If you sell online then obviously you want Sales, which is the default.
But if you’re focused on generating opt-ins or leads, you can select one of the other non-sales conversion types, and optionally enter an estimated goal value (which is strongly recommended).
This setting ensures your recommendations and insights are focused on improving the metric that matters most to you.
Basic Customization
Morning Magick uses your saved preferences to tailor insights to your unique strategy and goals:
Primary Objective – Focus on what matters to you, like maximizing profitability, scaling winners, or balancing both.
Budget Sensitivity – Adjusts recommendations based on how aggressively or conservatively you want to spend.
Experience Level – Delivers insights with the right level of detail and guidance for your expertise.
These settings ensure every recommendation matches your goals and comfort level.
Minimum Clicks
Minimum Clicks is the average number of clicks per day an ad must receive to be analyzed and included in your Morning Magick daily emails. The default and minimum value is 5 clicks per day.
To be included in the Daily Insights email an ad must receive 2 times this number of clicks over the past two days.
To be included in the Weekly Insights email an ad must receive 7 times this number of clicks over the week.
Ad-Level Insights
Most advertisers want to see insights down to the ad level, which is the default behavior.
But if you have tons of ads or your ads are generally all the same, and you prefer to analyze and optimize at the ad set level, you can disable Ad-Level Insights so they don’t clutter up your insights emails.
UTM Mapping
There are 4 settings that allow you to map your UTMs if you’re using them in a non-standard way …
Morning Magick requires utm_source, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content values for an ad to be eligible for analysis.
It expects utm_source to identify the source of the traffic, utm_campaign to identify the ad campaign, utm_term to identify the ad set or keyword, and utm_content to identify the specific ad or link.
If you’re already using UTMs in this recommended and industry-standard way, you don’t have to touch anything.
But if you’re for some reason using utm_medium to track your ads for example, you would select utm_medium for Ad to tell Morning Magick that your ads are actually being tracked by utm_medium and not utm_content.
Per-Level Insights
For each level of your ad hierarchy – source, campaign, ad set/keyword and ad – you can set your preferred insight depth and your preferred metric to further customize your insights and recommendations.
Insight Depth refers to how detailed your insights are. Brief is just a single detailed sentence, Normal is about two sentences, and Detailed is generally going to be 3-4 sentences.
The Preferred Metric tells the system which metric is most important to you at each level. For example, you might set ROAS for the source level, CAC/CPA at the campaign level, and Conversion Rate at the ad set and ad levels.
Advanced Customization
Morning Magick automatically tailors your insights using your saved preferences for Primary Objective, Budget Sensitivity, and Experience Level. But with Custom Instructions, you can take it a step further – giving Morning Magick specific guidance to fine-tune insights even more closely to your needs.
Think of Custom Instructions as your personal way to:
- Set up alerts for key metrics e.g. alert me if CPC increases > 30%
- Focus on particular ads e.g. show me only ads with ROI < 1x
- Exclude data you don't care about e.g. ignore ads with spend < $50
By default, these instructions are additive – they work alongside your basic preferences to give you even more control over what Morning Magick highlights.
If you want Morning Magick to only include insights matching very specific rules, use words like "only" or "exclusively" e.g. only alert me about ads where CPC increased > 30%
When you use words like these, Morning Magick will filter out all other insights and focus on only what you asked for.
When writing Custom Instructions:
- Be clear and mention the specific stats and thresholds you care about
- Avoid vague or general language like “let me know about any problems” – this won’t work well
- You can include multiple rules, but keep them concise
Unless you know exactly what you’re looking for, we recommend starting with the basic customization settings for a few days to get a feel for how Morning Magick works. Once you’ve reviewed your insights, you can refine them further with Custom Instructions to focus on what matters most to you.
Tip: If you have more ads than your plan allows, Morning Magick will prioritize analyzing your most important ads based on clicks and ad spend.
In addition, you can also use Advanced Customization to further refine which ads are prioritized for analysis.
